Job Description

Dura-Crete Walls may be rooted in tradition, but we break the mold of “traditional.” We are a proud participant in the American Manufacturing legacy, specializing in precast concrete building solutions, based in Warren, Michigan. We have deep roots within the construction industry and understand the importance of building strength and optimizing efficiency with intelligent design. We see the pathway to growth and are looking for a motivated, organized and interpersonal business-minded professional to help us on our journey.

Position Summary: Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the Business Development Specialist plays a key role in driving pipeline growth by actively identifying, developing, and advancing specification-driven opportunities across both early-stage project influence and active bid-stage opportunities uncovered through ongoing engagement within the AEC (Architectural, Engineering, and Construction) community.

This role is responsible for engaging architects, engineers, owners, and contractors to position company products at the specification level, create awareness within project design and preconstruction phases, and uncover bid opportunities through proactive outreach, relationship building, and market research.

The primary emphasis of the role is on developing and advancing project opportunities through the construction pipeline, from early design influence through bid and contractor engagement. Depending on the candidate’s strengths, the role may also provide limited support to marketing and communication initiatives that enhance market visibility.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify and develop early-stage project opportunities through construction document research and outreach to architects, engineers, owners, developers, and contractors
  • Support product specification by educating design professionals on system applications, performance benefits, and design integration opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships across the AEC community, including design firms, general contractors, subcontractors, and installers - engaging in active follow-up communication
  • Track and advance project opportunities through design development, specification, and preconstruction phases to support pipeline growth
  • Conduct market and project research to identify upcoming opportunities, key decision makers, and regional growth trends
  • Monitor bid opportunities and support alignment of company participation in relevant projects
  • Assist in preparation of proposals, submittals, presentations, and qualification materials
  • Support contractor engagement efforts such as product education and onboarding discussions
  • Maintain CRM data integrity including opportunity data entry, tracking, lead management, and pipeline reporting
  • Depending on experience and interest, may assist with select marketing or communication initiatives such as content coordination or newsletter support
  • Collaborate closely with Business Development Manager to execute targeted growth strategies across priority markets

The list above is not considered comprehensive of all job duties and responsibilities and is only intended to give examples of what may be asked of any candidate. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications / Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, construction management or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in business development, construction sales, AEC environments or related industries
  • Strong understanding of or interest in construction processes, specification sales, or building products markets
  • Experience engaging with architects, engineers, contractors, or developers is highly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active project opportunities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort in both technical and consultative conversations
  • Self-motivated with a proactive, opportunity-driven mindset
  • Familiarity with AEC project phases, bidding processes, or construction specifications is a strong asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems

Benefits for successful candidates:

  • Benefits: Medical, Dental, 401(k) coverage available first day of the month following 60 days.
  • Paid Time Off: Vacation time and 8 company observed holidays.
  • Competitive Compensation: based on experience.

To ensure a safe and secure environment for all, we conduct drug, alcohol, and background checks for all new team members post-offer and prior to the start of employment. The immigration Reform and Control Act requires that verification of employment eligibility be documented for all new employees by the end of the third day of work.
