Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position in Illinois requiring BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a hospital setting
  • Serve a diverse patient population with varying acuity levels
  • Night shift hours are 10am-10pm
  • Assignments are 13 weeks in duration
  • Use of electronic health record (EHR) for documentation
  • Handle triage according to the ESI triage algorithm
  • Care for behavioral health patients in acute crisis
  • Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning and implementation, medication management, and timely documentation
  • Care for sexual assault victims and manage required documentation and evidence
  • Communicate clearly with first responders, patients, and families, often in trauma situations
  • Participate in hospital codes including Code Blue, Code Green, and response team protocols
  • Manage expired patient care, including required notifications and procedures
  • Facilitate patient flow and delegate tasks within the department as needed
  • Adhere to EMTALA guidelines for patient transfers
  • Adapt to a dynamic environment and maintain emotional and mental stability for patient and team support

\n \n Requirements\n

  • Current Illinois RN license required
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Active BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required within 1 year of hire
  • PALS certification required within 1 year of hire
  • De-escalation training required
  • At least 1 year of experience in an emergency department or similar setting preferred
  • Ability to perform physical demands such as lifting and transferring patients and using PPE
