Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, creating, and maintaining manufacturing routings for new and existing parts. This role works closely with production, programming, and quality teams to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and repeatable machining processes. The ideal candidate has a strong machining background and a practical understanding of shop floor operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain manufacturing routings, including operation sequences, work centers, and standard times
- Review new part prints and determine optimal manufacturing methods and process flow
- Modify existing routings to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with CNC programmers, machinists, and production supervisors to validate processes
- Support new product introduction (NPI) by establishing routings and process documentation
- Analyze production issues and implement corrective actions related to routing or process gaps
- Ensure routings align with tooling, fixturing, and machine capabilities
- Maintain accurate data within ERP/MRP systems
- Assist in capacity planning and workflow optimization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- 3–7+ years of experience in a machining or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes (milling, turning, grinding)
- Experience creating or modifying routings in an ERP/MRP system
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Hands-on machining or programming experience preferred
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a machinist or CNC programmer
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
- Experience with process improvement and cost reduction initiatives
