Contract Inpatient Pharmacist Temporary Coverage (Maternity Leave)
Location: Shenandoah, IA | Start: Mid-October | Duration: 13+ weeks

We're hiring a contract Inpatient Pharmacist to support a hospital pharmacy team during a maternity leave. This role is ideal for someone confident in both inpatient and occasional retail duties, and offers consistent weekday hours with minimal weekend expectations.

Role Overview:
Youll play a key role in day-to-day operations of the inpatient pharmacy and step in as needed for limited retail support.
Primary Responsibilities:

Validate compounded medications, including chemotherapy, prepared by technicians

Review and verify physician orders via the facilitys EHR system

Conduct Pyxis verification
-
Join daily inpatient team huddles and rounds

Complete report audits and documentation
-
Participate in anticoagulation clinic operations as assigned
Weekly Schedule:
Inpatient Hours (MonFri):

Choice of: 7:30 AM 3:30 PM or 8:30 AM 4:30 PM
Retail Support (Occasional):

Pharmacy Hours:
-
Weekdays: 8:00 AM 7:00 PM

Weekends: 9:30 AM 1:30 PM

One weekday evening shift in retail (4:00 7:00 PM) may be required; youll begin that day in inpatient care

Optional: 1 weekend/month in retail, as needed
Qualifications:

Current Iowa pharmacist license (temporary license accepted)

Skilled in checking chemo prep (experience preferred, but training available)

Ability to support both inpatient and limited retail operations

Strong attention to detail and team communication

Willingness to work collaboratively in a hybrid hospital/retail setting
