Electrical Engineer / Specialist – Power Generation

Walleye Power is seeking an Electrical Engineer / Specialist to support operations at the Bay Shore Power Plant. This role provides technical leadership across electrical systems, supports maintenance and operations teams, and drives reliability, performance, and compliance initiatives.

This position plays a critical role in equipment health, outage support, and project execution within a power generation environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead root cause analysis for electrical equipment failures and implement corrective actions
  • Provide technical expertise for operation, maintenance, repair, and modification of electrical systems
  • Perform condition assessments and advanced troubleshooting on:
    • Motors, breakers, transformers, and switchgear
    • PLCs and DCS systems
    • Control systems and plant networked equipment
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term solutions to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency
  • Manage capital and O&M projects from concept through completion, including contractor coordination
  • Serve as primary contact for NERC compliance, ensuring adherence to applicable standards
  • Support planned and forced outages, including off-hours, weekends, and emergency response
  • Analyze performance data and predictive maintenance results to improve equipment reliability
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support plant operations

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree, military training, or equivalent experience in electrical engineering or related field
  • Strong experience in power generation, industrial, or plant environments
  • Demonstrated project management and troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including outages, weekends, and emergency situations
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet plant safety requirements (including respirator fit)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, CMMS/EAM systems, and data management tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with NERC compliance and industry standards (IEEE, NEC)
  • Background in power plant operations, maintenance, or reliability engineering
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, controls, and plant equipment
