Position Overview
The Senior Controls Engineer plays a vital role in developing, programming, and commissioning the electrical control systems that bring complex manufacturing machinery to life. This role requires both hands-on troubleshooting expertise and the ability to design elegant automation solutions that enhance performance, safety, and efficiency.
The ideal candidate has experience in industrial automation, machine tool controls, and motion systems and enjoys collaborating with mechanical engineers, project managers, and end clients throughout all project phases—from design through installation.
Key Responsibilities

Design, program, and implement PLC and HMI control systems for custom industrial machinery.

Develop and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, and bills of material using AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent software.

Write and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic, structured text, and function block code (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, etc.).

Configure and optimize motion control, servo, and robotic systems used in precision automation equipment.

Collaborate with mechanical design engineers to integrate electrical and mechanical systems seamlessly.

Conduct testing, debugging, and commissioning of equipment in-house and at customer sites (domestic and international).

Provide support for system upgrades, retrofits, and customer service inquiries post-installation.

Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety and electrical standards (NFPA, UL, CE).

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes.
Must-Have Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field
7+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls design, or machine tool systems
Strong proficiency in PLC/HMI programming (Siemens or Allen-Bradley preferred)
Hands-on experience with servo drives, motion control, sensors, and safety circuits
Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN for schematic design
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and integrate control logic accordingly
Willingness to travel occasionally for system startup and commissioning
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex systems clearly
Preferred Qualifications

Background in machine tool, automotive, or precision manufacturing industries

Experience with data acquisition, industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, etc.), and IIoT integration

Exposure to robotic integration (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA)

Familiarity with safety PLCs and risk assessment processes

Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor other engineers on technical projects
