Controller
Our rapidly growing client is seeking a polished and highly accountable finance professional who thrives in dynamic and high-growth or start-up environments. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with executive-level communication skills, demonstrating sound judgment, discretion, and a hands-on approach to supporting business operations. This individual will bring a long-term mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and the leadership potential to help scale finance processes alongside fast organizational growth.
This role is on-site in Oakville, Ontario (Greater Toronto Area, Canada).
Controller Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, expense reporting, and general ledger activities.
- Support monthly close processes, reconciliations, budgeting efforts, and variance analysis to deliver accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and present financial insights and performance updates to leadership.
- Coordinate annual audit activities, tax-related processes, and other compliance requirements.
- Serve as a collaborative partner across finance, HR, and operations while helping strengthen and scale financial processes.
Controller Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting or finance experience; 812 years of experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and analytical accounting practices.
- CPA/CFA credentials and experience in investment banking, private equity, or public accounting environments are preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to confidently present financial information to leadership and investors.
- Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and sound judgment when handling confidential information and sensitive matters.
Salary: $120K-$160K/year + Bonus. (DOE)
