Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Pay: Starting at $60/hour, with increases based on experience

Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified and committed Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join our educational team in Oakland, CA. The DHH teacher will provide direct and consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, supporting their access to the general education curriculum and development of communication and academic skills. This position offers flexible scheduling, competitive compensation, and a full benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students with hearing loss in individual and group settings

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in coordination with multidisciplinary teams

  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum and ensure accessibility

  • Support the use of hearing technology and assistive devices in educational environments

  • Conduct assessments and monitor student progress

  • Educate students, families, and school personnel on hearing loss and communication strategies

Requirements:

  • Valid California Education Specialist Credential with authorization in Deaf and Hard of Hearing

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education or a related field

  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes used by students

  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
