Team Overview
The Senior Federal Government Relations Manager advances ADF's strategic objectives through high-impact government relations and advocacy in Washington, D.C. Serving as a key alliance builder, this role drives ADF's federal policy and legislative efforts, with a particular focus on free speech and global censorship. The Senior Manager acts as a principal strategist and primary liaison between ADF and the U.S. Congress, the White House, and federal agencies. This position also plays a central role in planning, coordinating, and facilitating outreach with allied organizations and stakeholders on government, legislative, and policy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Advocate for and coordinate support of ADF's positions on federal policy and legislation, with a particular focus on global censorship, tech policy, and free speech.
- Build, maintain, and leverage strong relationships with Members of Congress, congressional staff, federal policymakers, and key government and policy allies.
- Monitor, research, analyze, and evaluate legislative and regulatory developments, including hearings, floor activity, and other congressional actions.
- Develop and support effective advocacy strategies, including assisting in the preparation of testimony, legislation, position papers, reports, and related materials.
- Represent ADF at congressional hearings, meetings, and Member and staff events, and engage directly with policymakers and stakeholders through regular in-person and virtual outreach.
- Facilitate collaboration with internal ADF teams and external allies to advance shared policy and legislative objectives.
- Travel as needed to meet with policy groups, legislative staff, and other stakeholders to advance advocacy efforts and public engagement.
- Speak publicly on ADF's legislative priorities, including media engagement, in coordination with ADF leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Affairs, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be obtained.
- 5+ years of experience working on Capitol Hill (i.e., as legislative staff, preferably on a financial services portfolio).
- Knowledge of federal legislative and executive branch processes and procedures.
- Ability to travel routinely to and from Capitol Hill and other locations in the Washington, D.C. area.
Preferred Qualifications
- J.D., active license in at least one US state bar, and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction within one year.
