JOB SUMMARY

The Sourcing Engineer is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, optimizing supplier capabilities, and enabling cost‑effective product development across the enterprise. This role acts as a key interface between Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to ensure the company selects and develops suppliers that meet requirements for quality, cost, innovation, and delivery. The leader in this role drives long‑term strategic initiatives, coaches a sourcing engineering team, and influences decisions at senior levels across the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute the long-term sourcing engineering strategy to align with business growth, product roadmaps, and operational goals.

Serve as a senior advisor on sourcing feasibility, supplier selection, and risk mitigation.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including value engineering, cost reduction, and supplier capability optimization.

Supplier Strategy & Relationship Management

Build and manage strategic supplier partnerships that support innovation and cost competitiveness, and operational excellence.

Lead supplier capability assessments, technology roadmap reviews, and business award recommendations.

Oversee negotiations for technical and commercial terms in partnership with Procurement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner closely with R&D, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing to influence design-for-sourcing decisions early in the product lifecycle.

Engage with Quality and Operations teams to ensure robust supplier onboarding, qualification, and ongoing performance management.

Act as the sourcing engineering representative in leadership reviews, program status meetings, and executive briefings.

Program & Portfolio Management

Lead the sourcing engineering function across multiple product lines or categories, ensuring resourcing, prioritization, and execution excellence.

Oversee supplier readiness for new product introductions (NPIs), tooling, and manufacturing transitions.

Identify and mitigate technical, supply, and geopolitical risks across the supplier portfolio.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Proven success leading sourcing strategies, supplier development initiatives, or complex cross-functional programs.

Expertise in quality and manufacturing processes, , cost drivers, and supplier capability evaluation including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and Lean Manufacturing concepts Demonstrated project management skills for supplier development and category strategy implementation

Research and identify potential suppliers globally and locally based on technical requirements and company needs

Self-driven, motivated, and can operate with minimal direction, take initiative, and be resourceful in problem-solving

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and strong customer service skills with customers as well as the supply chain team

Expertise in NPI environments, value engineering, or advanced manufacturing technologies preferred.

Certification in project management, supply chain, or quality preferred.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) required. Masters degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain, preferred.

10+ years of experience in sourcing engineering, supply chain engineering, manufacturing, or supplier development.
