Position is entry-level. Temporary status through approximately August 31, 2026. 15 hours per week. Hours are flexible, only weekdays are permitted for work.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Grant Writer Intern will conduct research, assess mission match for available grants, and create and assemble grant requests. The Grant Writer Intern will be expected to maintain a calendar of submissions and report deadlines. This intern works closely with the Director of Foundation Grants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Research funding opportunities that align with the short-term and long-term funding needs and goals of the agency.
- Communicate the agency’s mission and programs to potential funders.
- Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to private foundation funding sources.
- Maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports.
- Prioritize multiple grant opportunities to ensure multiple proposals proceed in a timely manner.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with related policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Passion for the agency’s mission and work.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and public speaking skills.
- Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
- Strong enough math skills for grant budgeting.
- A successful track record in setting priorities, information delivery, and time management.
- Highly organized, wearing multiple hats in a fast-moving environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient working with computers and Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel.
