Position Summary
A Varicent Team Lead is a leadership consultant role that works as a bridge between hands on consultative work and people management. Varicent Team Lead at OpenSymmetry is responsible for their own individual contributions towards the implementation of performance management and other related software solutions to meet the client’s business and technical requirements. You must dedicate weekly time to coach and mentor small teams of consultants. The Team Lead is expected to help their team members enhance their technical and soft skills to effectively strengthen each project team and help team members advance their own careers.
Responsibilities in this role include consulting throughout the software implementation lifecycle, from requirements gathering, design, build, testing and go-live. You will also be responsible for managing a team of 3-5 direct reports including weekly one on one reviews, annual and mid-years reviews, coaching (best-practice guidance and techniques, assisting team members with sequencing of tasks, estimating work, and time management) , and being the point of contact for any issues that may arise. Additionally, this role will be tasked with creating and presenting reports about team activities and skill attainment while acting as a point of escalation for direct reports, exercising judgement on when to further escalate to a Project Manager or Practice Lead.

Job Objectives
The ideal candidate demonstrates a proven ability to:
- Expert knowledge & experience in Varicent platform
- Assume responsibility for the design and delivery of the overall technical solution and engages the OS Solution Architect as needed for reviews/technical issue support
- Establish procedures to ensure high quality of work (team meetings, deliverable reviews, peer reviews, etc.)
- Develops technical solutions to new or highly complex problems that cannot be solved using existing methods or approaches.
- Anticipates potential problems and develops contingency options in advance.
- Use best practices and standards to organize and keep track of information or work
- Ensure needed resources and skill sets required are represented on the team and actively manage scope to avoid scope creep
- Evaluate team member’s deliverables and provide honest feedback and corrective actions to ensure quality and accuracy required
- Weigh the costs, benefits, risks and chances for success when making a recommendation or decision
- Helps clients navigate complex or sensitive issues, keeping the client’s best interest in mind and advising on best practices.
- Flexibility to perform in varying project roles and scenarios.
- Stays informed about product updates/changes within their area of expertise and applies this knowledge in project and sales contexts.
- Be sought out as an expert to provide advice or solutions in higher technical area
- Develop strategies in which ensure win-win solutions for all parties
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience within the Varicent platform
- 6+ years w/ external client facing experience
- Must have experience in team management
- Expert skillsets in Excel / Spreadsheet software
- Expert level communication skills including writing, listening and speaking
