Job Description Title: Technical Writer / Tech Documentation Specialist
Location: Remote (EST required; NYC-based candidates preferred for occasional onsite meetings)
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Contract, 4 months (20 hours/week, flexible during core business hours)
Compensation Range: $48 - $51 / hour W2

Job Description:
This role partners with technical stakeholders across the organization to extract, structure, and document complex data and workflow knowledge, delivering clear, layered documentation that supports an enterprise-wide data visibility initiative.
Job Summary
Collaborate with engineers, architects, and technical teams to gather and synthesize knowledge around data flows and technical workflows
Create end-to-end documentation that captures how data moves across the organization's products and systems
Develop audience-appropriate views of the same documentation, tailoring content for executive, operational, and engineering audiences
Produce structured diagrams, ontologies, and taxonomies to organize and communicate complex technical concepts at multiple levels of detail
Support the team's long-term goal of building a knowledge graph powered by agentic AI workflows
Maintain and manage documentation artifacts using tools such as Lucidchart and Jira
Apply a business analyst mindset to facilitate knowledge-gathering sessions and ensure documentation accurately reflects technical realities
Minimum Requirements:
5 years of experience as a Technical Writer in a large, established organization
Demonstrated understanding of cloud infrastructure and data architecture concepts
Proven ability to create ontologies and taxonomies that organize complex information for broad consumption
Experience producing multi-level documentation, such as 0-1-2 data flow diagrams, tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong proficiency with Lucidchart for diagramming and Jira for project tracking
Portfolio samples required: a taxonomy or ontology the candidate created, and a technical data flow diagram demonstrating breakdown of a large, complex subject for varied audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in ad tech, marketing tech, media, entertainment, or agency environments
Experience reimagining or redesigning workflows using AI or agentic workflow methodologies
