Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter opportunity is available in Oroville, CA, supporting elementary and intermediate students within a school setting. This role involves facilitating communication between deaf and hard-of-hearing students and their hearing peers, educators, and school staff, ensuring an inclusive educational experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting to support effective classroom communication.
  • Assist students in academic subjects such as reading, writing, and math.
  • Support students with vocational and living skills development.
  • Monitor students during classroom activities, outdoor events, and community interactions.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and other school personnel to optimize student engagement.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf or a minimum of 4.0 score on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment is preferred.
  • Candidates with an EIPA score below 4.0 but fluent in ASL may be considered and will be referred to as ASL Paras.
  • An Associates degree in ASL or related field is favorable.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with children in educational settings.
  • Ability to work onsite full time with approximately 30 hours per week (6 hours per day).

  • Number of positions: 3.
  • Onsite work only.
  • Role involves travel within the assigned area to support various school sites.
