Position Summary

The Senior Nursing Director is responsible for directing activities and managing resources to ensure alignment with the mission, values, and strategic objectives of the organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), this position plays a key role in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and achieving departmental goals.

This leadership role oversees the operations and clinical care provided in the Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Intensive Care, and Intermediate Care Units, ensuring high-quality, patient- and family-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to assigned nursing units.

  • Support the organization's mission through active participation in strategic planning and goal achievement.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and standards of care.

  • Foster collaboration among physicians, nursing teams, and other departments to drive optimal patient outcomes.

  • Promote evidence-based practices and lead quality improvement initiatives.

  • Mentor, develop, and retain nursing leadership and staff.

  • Monitor and manage staffing levels, budgets, and resources efficiently.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to function effectively under pressure with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in a complex healthcare environment.

Certifications and Licensure

  • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 60 days of hire.

  • Specialty nursing certification preferred.

  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of North Carolina.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of three years of experience in healthcare management or a related leadership role.

  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience in ICU/CCU (other applicable clinical areas may be considered in lieu of direct ICU/CCU experience).
