An experienced registered nurse is needed to provide specialized care in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Universal Care Center (UCC) at a leading healthcare facility in Middleton, WI. This contract role offers a dynamic environment focusing on both preoperative and postoperative patient care, ensuring optimal recovery and comfort for surgical patients.
Responsibilities include preparing inpatients and outpatients for surgery, managing Phase II recovery with pain management and discharge teaching, and delivering comprehensive care in the PACUs 14-bed recovery room. Nurses will assess, diagnose, and intervene in the immediate post-anesthetic period while coordinating multidisciplinary care.
Key qualifications and experience:
- Current Wisconsin nursing license or compact license from the permanent state of residence
- Minimum of two years acute care nursing experience within the past three years, with PACU/recovery room expertise required
- Proficiency in Epic electronic medical records system (preferred recent experience within 12 months)
- Certification in BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association
- Basic Arrhythmia experience and ability to pass a Telemetry test prior to starting
- Eligibility to reside within 50 miles of the primary worksite
- Flexibility to float between units and potentially different organizational locations as staffing needs evolve
Shift:
- Day shift Monday through Friday, five 8-hour shifts (05:00 to 15:30)
