JOB SUMMARY:
The Nutrition Lead performs patient care nutritional activities and food service functions. Has knowledge of therapeutic diets; prepares and checks menus, completes meal counts, nourishment tallies, and supervises tray preparation according to individual diet orders. Ensure temperatures of refrigeration and freezer food storage areas as well as foods prior to meal service. Oversees food and nutrition services employees and performs Quality projects and audits as required. Interacts with other health care professionals (physicians, nurses, and therapists) as appropriate, to aid with the patient’s nutritional care.
DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE:
Nutrition Services provides nutritionally adequate and satisfying meals to both patients and customers.
A safe and sanitary food service environment will be utilized according to standards of quality established by federal, state, and local agencies.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school graduate preferred.
Experience:
- One-year experiences as a nutrition supervisor preferred but not mandatory.
- Word processing skills helpful.
Licensure/Certification:
- None Required.
- Certification as a dietary manager preferred. If not certified as a dietary manager, must complete approved nutrition/dietary (Dietary Manager’s Training I) course within one year of employment and/or as approved by the Dietitian.
Mental Efforts:
- Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions.
- Ability to utilize the computer to retrieve diet changes, access patients’ lab values, and compile quality improvement reports.
- Basic math skills needed for adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and figuring percentages.
- Ability to communicate and work with patients and/or employees with learning disabilities and/or hearing or vision impaired.
- Must be able to implement appropriate corrective action when needed.

- Exposure to cuts, scalds, burns, and temperature variations.

Compensation Disclosure in Accordance with Vermont Act 155
In compliance with Vermont Act 155, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital provides the compensation range for this position in good faith. The listed range represents the pay scale reasonably expected for a successful candidate based on factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness. Final compensation will be determined during the hiring process.
