Key Responsibilities:

  1. Set Up and Operate Machines:

    • Perform complete setup and operation of industrial machines, including CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, Vertical Machining Centers, and surface grinders.
    • Operate multiple machines (1-4) simultaneously to maximize production efficiency.
    • Adjust and calibrate machines to ensure compliance with tight tolerances and specifications.
  2. Precision Measurement and Quality Assurance:

    • Utilize precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to verify dimensions and quality.
    • Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards.
    • Identify and address machining defects and troubleshoot problems as needed.
  3. Collaboration and Training:

    • Train and mentor other operators and machinists to improve overall team capabilities.
    • Provide guidance on best practices for machine setup, operation, and maintenance.
    • Assist in process improvement initiatives to optimize workflow and efficiency.
  4. Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Conduct regular preventative maintenance on machinery and tools.
    • Identify machine malfunctions and collaborate with maintenance teams to resolve issues promptly.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain detailed records of machine setups, production runs, and inspection results.
    • Report production metrics, quality issues, and improvement recommendations to supervisors or engineering teams.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 experience as a machinist, with expertise in CNC programming, setup, and operation.
    • Proven experience with machining ceramic parts is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Advanced understanding of CNC programming, G-code, and M-code.
    • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and blueprints/schematics.
    • Familiarity with machining ceramics or other advanced materials is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills for mentoring and training team members.
  • Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Technical certification or degree in machining, manufacturing, or related field preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.
