SUMMARY

The Assistant Principal of Instruction will be responsible for overseeing the instructional programming and coaching support. He or she will serve as an active member of the administrative team in overseeing the daily operations of the school. This will include directly managing the school’s instructional program, supporting the management of instructional staff by providing weekly coaching and feedback to teachers on their effectiveness in meeting the needs of St. Anthony’s students; identifying instructional goals, designing, and delivering professional development to meet the instructional needs of teachers. The Assistant Principal of Instruction will also work collaboratively with the Director of Curriculum for all coaching and instructional responsibilities. Roles and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provides Observation, and Feedback to HS Staff
  • Provides Lesson Plan Feedback to HS Staff
  • Contributes to and facilitate department meetings
  • Manages course and department-specific scope and sequence documents
  • Facilitates the creation and maintenance of department-specific grading rubrics
  • Works with stakeholders to determine summative assessment calendar for the school year
  • Manages the tracking and reporting of summative assessment data
  • Coordinates the administration of accountability assessments (AP, ACCESS, ACT Aspire, Forward, ACT)
  • Collaborates with the ESL teacher to ensure completion of all ACCESS Testing
  • Observe teachers daily. Provide coaching with ongoing feedback to teachers on instructional delivery and structure substantive feedback for more significant areas of growth.
  • Meet with teachers to plan units, examine assessments and student data, and provide feedback on instruction and curriculum design.
  • Set instructional goals for teachers and design an observation schedule to provide feedback on teachers’ progress in meeting those goals.
  • Contribute to all St. Anthony’s staff member’s evaluations.
  • Oversee curriculum development and student assessment-related systems.
  • Support ELL inclusion program, monitor the effectiveness of inclusion, and provide feedback and support to create a high-quality inclusion program.
  • Develop and lead instructional professional development and attend Network-wide professional development sessions.
  • Implement effective internal assessment systems to monitor academic progress of students throughout the year and implement and oversee systems for data analysis of all internal and external assessments;
  • Oversee and manage the communication of student progress to parents throughout the year
  • Seek and share curriculum and best practices with other schools in the St Anthony network;
  • Serve as a productive member of the St Anthony community and Leadership Team; and
  • Work proactively to ensure the mission of the school is upheld

Responsibilities

The Assistant Principal of Instruction reports to St. Anthony’s High School Principal and serves on the Leadership Team. The Assistant Principal of Instruction is responsible for the management and development of teachers within his/her portfolio. S/he plans professional development, leads the smaller team's efforts to create a positive, structured, consistent, caring, and disciplined school culture, and takes responsibility for the academic program in place within his/her content areas and/or grade levels.

• Teacher Development and Management

• Oversee the growth and development of a cohort of teachers within particular subject areas or grade levels

Team Management and Leadership

• Develop and support a culture of reflective practice among teachers

• Plan and support facilitation of professional development

• Develop positive interpersonal relationships among staff members

• Provide consistent and high academic and behavioral expectations for students

• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues


Curriculum and Assessment Design


• Facilitate meetings to analyze student work, review information regarding classroom assessments, and plan for instruction.

• Ensure student mastery of state and school academic and behavioral standards.

• Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards.

• Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.

• Develop, implement, and revise curriculum maps and pacing plans



QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strong belief in St. Anthony’s mission
  • Master's degree is required, preferably in School Administration
  • Three years teaching experience required, 2+ years of school leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success in leading in a diverse environment
  • A valid Wisconsin Teaching License as a Principal/Assistant Principal in the appropriate grade level
  • Current authorization to work in the United States – A candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
