Job Description
We are looking for an experienced restaurant line cook to prepare ingredients, cook menu items to standard recipes, and plate dishes on a designated station. You will be responsible for setting up your workspace, managing food orders during service, and maintaining strict sanitation and hygiene standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Station Setup & Prep: Set up assigned kitchen stations (e.g., grill, sauté, fry, pantry) with all necessary supplies, ingredients, and tools before service.
- Food Preparation: Chop, slice, and portion vegetables, meats, and seafood, and prepare sauces and stocks.
- Cooking & Plating: Execute menu items according to standard recipes, special requests, and executive chef specifications.
- Speed & Timing: Coordinate with the rest of the kitchen staff and the expeditor to ensure food is cooked to the proper temperature and served simultaneously.
- Sanitation & Safety: Comply with local health and safety regulations. This includes proper food storage, dating labels, avoiding cross-contamination, and sanitizing the workstation.
- Breakdown & Inventory: Clean equipment, sweep/mop work areas, and cover/store all reusable items at the end of the shift. Notify the sous chef or kitchen manager of ingredient shortages
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 1–3 years of prior kitchen or culinary experience.
- Knowledge: Understanding of cooking methods (grilling, frying, sautéing), safe knife skills, and food handling safety.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (typically up to 40 pounds), and bend or reach in a fast-paced environment.
- Certifications: Food Handlers License
