About the role!

The Associate Therapist is responsible for working with children, teens, young adults and their families in our outpatient mental health clinic, primarily providing individual therapy, parent coaching, and/or family therapy. Is also responsible for providing educational workshops at CHC and within the community on topics of expertise, as required. This position currently reports to the Clinical Program Manager.

As an Associate Therapist, you will:

  • · Conduct comprehensive clinical interviews with parents and clients, develop case formulation, and synthesize/disseminate significant information to team members.
  • · Develop and deliver psychological treatment plans for teens and their families, which may include individual, family, and parent and collateral therapy.
  • · Coordinate clinical care with other disciplines including SLP, OT, education, psychology, and psychiatry.
  • · Conduct in-service training and seminars at CHC or within the community, including continuing education and parent education.
  • · Attend clinical staff and team meetings as assigned.
  • · Adhere to all mental health legal and ethical mandates and guidelines in the execution of duties, including timely completion of charting, billing, report preparation, and ethical/confidentiality issues as outlined by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy or National Association of Social Workers, dependent upon your licensure.
  • Participate in IEP conferences and other school meetings to assist school personnel in understanding client issues and the rationale for the implementation of recommendations when clinically valid.
  • Meet productivity expectations as assigned by the Division Director. It is expected that therapists will be at full productivity at the completion of the 3rd month.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested by Clinical Program Manager.

What we’re looking for:

  • · Bilingual – English, Spanish and/or Vietnamese strongly preferred.
  • · Knowledge and understanding of CHC's four areas of expertise: ADHD, LD, anxiety and depression, and Autism Spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • · Knowledge and skills in child and adolescent individual and family therapies, case formulations, and treatment planning, as well as crisis and risk management.
  • · Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • · Excellent time management and material organizational skills.
  • · Passion and enthusiasm for working with children and adolescents and their caregivers.
  • · Knowledge and use of computers and an Electronic Health Record (EHR) is essential.

About your background (education/experience):

  • APCC/AMFT/ACSW from an accredited graduate school, preferably with at least 1 year of experience in either/both a pediatric clinic and/or school-based setting.
  • Valid California associates license to practice in a mental health field required.
  • Adherence to all professional, ethical, legal, and confidentiality issues outlined by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy or National Association of Social Workers, and State and Federal laws (e.g., HIPAA).

Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements:

  • · An employee in this position may be required to occasionally lift, move and/or set-up stacks of documents, laptop computers, charts and other materials. Employee may also be required to work for extended periods of time on a laptop.

Special Job Requirements:

  • Exempt Full-Time.
  • Works Monday through Friday, time may be split between San Jose and Palo Alto offices, with afternoon and evening availability up to 7pm.
  • To meet the needs of our clients, flexibility in work schedule is required. Most work will likely be in the afternoon/early evening, with availability required between 3pm-7pm.

Compensation listed below is based on a 0.8 FTE (32 hour work week):

Range: $85,000-$90,000 Per year

Pay Type: salary

The actual base salary is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
