Carroll Institute is seeking a compassionate and empathetic Adolescent Counselor to join our Prevention team. This full-time, year-round role provides Prevention and Early Intervention services to K-12 students across rural school districts. You’ll educate youth, support healthy decision-making, and build strong community relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom and assembly presentations on lessons from evidence-based curriculum on topics such as substance use, bullying, and coping skills
- Provide individual and group counseling to adolescents
- Conduct substance abuse screenings/assessments and threat assessments (with training, if needed)
- Maintain accurate documentation as required by contracts and funders
- Build collaborative relationships with school staff, students, families, and community members
Qualifications
- A passion for prevention of tobacco and substance use in youth!
- Bachelor’s degree (Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field)
- Prevention or addiction counseling certification—or willingness to become a trainee and take college coursework to become certified
- Experience working with youth/classroom management skills preferred
- Good listener; strong communication skills, including public speaking
- Ability to work independently
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Drive and other data systems, and ability to learn new software
Compensation & Benefits
- $21.01–$27.46/hour (based on experience; may be salaried or hourly)
