Assembly Supervisor (Aerospace)
Job Description
Our client, an innovative aerospace propulsion manufacturer, is seeking a Supervisor – Assembly (Aerospace) to lead day-to-day assembly operations within a high-volume UAV jet engine manufacturing and test environment. This position plays a critical role in driving production execution, workforce leadership, quality compliance, and operational efficiency while supporting rapid growth and scalable manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience within aerospace, industrial manufacturing, or precision assembly environments and thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on production setting.
Key Responsibilities
Production Leadership
- Lead and supervise a team of 15+ assembly technicians on first shift operations.
- Ensure daily production output, quality, and schedule targets are consistently achieved.
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Team Development
- Train, mentor, and support assembly technicians on production processes, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Conduct employee evaluations, provide coaching, and promote continuous skill development.
- Support workforce planning and staffing alignment to meet production demands.
Quality & Compliance
- Monitor assembly activities to ensure compliance with internal quality standards and manufacturing procedures.
- Conduct inspections and functional verification activities to ensure product integrity and reliability.
- Support adherence to ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality system standards.
Resource & Inventory Coordination
- Manage shop floor inventory and coordinate materials availability to support uninterrupted production flow.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, supply chain, quality, and engineering teams to resolve constraints and improve throughput.
Production Planning & Reporting
- Report daily production performance, output metrics, and operational challenges.
- Assist with resource planning, labor coordination, and production scheduling activities.
- Identify and escalate roadblocks impacting manufacturing performance.
LEAN Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
- Support LEAN manufacturing initiatives including Gemba walks, Kaizen activities, and 5S programs.
- Maintain visual management systems and promote operational discipline across the production floor.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase throughput.
Problem Resolution
- Troubleshoot production and assembly issues in real time.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, Associate degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience.
- 5+ years of experience within aerospace or industrial manufacturing environments.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams of 10+ employees in assembly or production operations.
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing or precision assembly operations.
- Aerospace propulsion, turbine engine, or jet engine experience is highly preferred.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality standards.
- LEAN manufacturing experience or certification preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
Work Environment & Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required due to export control and regulatory requirements.
- Approximately 10% international travel may be required during the first year.
- Manufacturing environment may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Position involves standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
