Salary Range: $61,000 - $93,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Norton Shores that are seeking skilled Tool Makers. Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and modify precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- Operate and set up a variety of machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM.
- Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair on existing tooling.
- Conduct precise measurements using metrology equipment to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related production issues efficiently.
- Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool construction.
Recommended Qualifications
- Completion of a certified Tool Maker apprenticeship or 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in operating and setting up manual machining equipment (lathes, mills, surface grinders).
- Ability to accurately interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Demonstrated skill in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for tooling design, modification, and CNC machine programming.
Bonus Qualifications
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
- Experience with advanced machining processes (e.g., Wire EDM, 5-axis milling)
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies
- Welding experience (TIG/MIG) for tool repair and modification
