Job Description

Job DescriptionLead Product Manager The AI Product Lead will own the product discovery, validation, and delivery strategy for AI initiatives across portfolio companies. You will sit at the intersection of product management, customer research, and applied AI, owning the full lifecycle from identifying whitespace opportunities and testing them with real users, through shipping production-quality features and making sure the team you leave behind can keep going without you. This is a hands-on role where you embed with portfolio company teams, run discovery sprints, prototype with actual users, break through the organizational scar tissue that's slowing teams down, and build the muscle memory that turns cautious product orgs into confident, AI-literate shipping machines. The right person is experienced in identifying AI-native product vision, deep fluency in modern discovery and validation methods, a founder's bias toward action, and the strategic clarity to tie every initiative back to measurable business outcomes. What you will be doing: -Define and Own the AI Product Discovery Strategy. Build the vision, frameworks, and playbooks for how portfolio companies find, score, and validate AI opportunities. Make sure initiative selection is driven by financial lift targets, competitive positioning, feature request backlogs, and tons of market research. -Partner with portfolio company PMs and leadership to run structured discovery sprints. Map the jobs customers are trying to get done, score the unmet outcomes, and zero in on the gaps where AI creates disproportionate value. Push discovery beyond existing customers. -Drive Rapid Customer Validation & Ongoing Research Programs. Champion a disciplined validation loop: define clear hypotheses, build low-fidelity prototypes, and test with real users and non-customers before committing engineering resources. Compress validation from months to weeks using AI-native prototyping and research tools, kill bad ideas early and move on. Quickly pull together resources to execute on large scale quantitative and qualitative customer research. -Remove Bottlenecks and Accelerate Shipping Velocity. Diagnose and find opportunities for portfolio company teams to ship faster. Identify and resolve constraints organizational, technical, or methodological constraints. Implement the specific changes that unblock teams and measurably increase the rate at which validated ideas reach production. -Build AI-Native Automation Into Product Workflows. Find and implement the opportunities for AI to automate repetitive product development work, from research synthesis and competitive monitoring to QA, documentation, and internal reporting. Train and transform teams on how a modern PM actually uses AI tools in their daily workflow by leading by example. -Establish Evaluation Frameworks. Design and implement evals that measure whether AI features perform against real business goals. Set thresholds for accuracy, reliability, and quality that bridge product judgment and technical execution. -Oversee Full-Lifecycle Product Delivery. Be accountable for the end-to-end path from validated opportunity to shipped feature. Work directly on scoping, sprint planning, and iterative delivery. Make sure what ships is what customers actually need, not what the roadmap assumed six months ago. -Codify Scalable Playbooks. Turn the discovery, validation, and delivery practices that work into repeatable, portfolio-wide playbooks. The goal is to raise the floor across all portfolio companies so PMs can operate independently at a higher standard after you move on. -Manage Financial Strategy and Tradeoffs. Work closely with deal teams and portfolio leadership to provide product inputs for initiative prioritization, resource allocation, and M&A targeting. -Mentor and Elevate Portfolio Company Product Teams. Coach PMs on modern AI product practices, from writing effective evals and running assumption tests to using AI tools in their daily workflow. Raise the bar without creating dependency on the Pod. What you need: -AI Native Product Leadership. 5+ yrs of product management experience with a real, measurable track record of shipping AI-powered or data-intensive products, leading the discovery, build, and iteration of products where AI is the core value driver. -Discovery and Validation Rigor. Deep experience running structured customer discovery and rapid validation, building capabilities to spin up customer research sprints to run deep validation against as many users and non-customers as possible. -Shipping Velocity & Product Management Automations. You are technical with the AI tooling landscape and very comfortable in systems to put together workflows yourself to prove out efficiency and scale new ways of working across teams. You understand how to identify bottlenecks and enable orgs to develop faster. -Founder Mindset and Action Bias. You operate with a startup/founder mentality. Fierce bias toward action. Mastery of ambiguity and simplification. You prototype. You run interviews. You sit with engineers. You don't wait for someone else to build the thing you need in order to learn. -Customer Obsession Beyond the Existing ICP. You possess deep customer empathy and the strategic vision to look beyond the customers a company already serves. You understand market-level forces, competitive dynamics, and adjacent segments. -Design, Technical and Analytical Fluency. You know how to evaluate models and the differences between them. Strong fluency in analytics, experiment design, and a solid understanding of data infrastructure requirements and software development processes. You understand what makes a good UX/UI. -Multi-Company Context Switching. Comfort operating across multiple portfolio companies simultaneously, switching between different industries, team dynamics, and organizational maturities without losing depth or strategic coherence. -High-Bar Influence. You maintain a relentlessly high bar for your own contributions and those of the teams you work with. You have the leadership and communication skills to align C-suite executives, portfolio company PMs, and cross-functional engineering teams who don't report to you. -Experience in a venture studio, innovation lab, PE operating team, or management consulting environment where you've worked across multiple companies or products at the same time -Background in embedded product roles where you operated directly inside a customer or partner environment -Hands-on experience with AI-native prototyping and development tools (Cursor, V0, Lovable, Claude, etc.). -Familiarity with private equity value creation frameworks, exit timeline considerations, and financial lift modeling -Experience designing and delivering PM training or capability-building programs at an organizational level-A genuine interest in how AI is reshaping the craft of product management itself, not just the products PMs build, but how they build them -You take on complex, multi-stakeholder product challenges and find elegant solutions that are disarmingly simple for end users-BS Degree
