Position Summary: The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for the origination of residential mortgage loans from the application to loan closing.
Essential Functions:
- Originate mortgage loans intended for sale on the secondary market and is responsible for a high production pipeline that includes a variety of loan types, including conventional, FHA, VA and properties located across the state of Nebraska.
- Serve as the primary communication contact with customers, real estate agents, title companies, and other related parties throughout the loan process.
- Anticipate all requirements of the loan cycle from beginning to end.
- Request and gather documentation from customers, businesses and others. Review information and loan documentation prior to submission to underwriting.
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of all secondary market investor guidelines, Government Sponsored Enterprise (GSE) requirements, federal regulations, and bank policy.
- Ensure all transactions meet compliance with bank, regulatory and investor guidelines, and customer service standards.
- Actively manage pre-qualifications to meet the needs of clients.
- Resolve all investor and internal pending items.
- Responsible for pricing loans in the pricing engine, Optimal Blue, and locking the rate with the corresponding investor.
- Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training; follow internal processes and controls as required.
- Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of recent mortgage loan origination experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent FHA, VA, FNMA, FMLC experience required.
- Position will require registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS), which is paid for by the bank.
- Knowledge of the Encompass loan operating system.
