This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and involves performing electrical assembly operations according to documented manufacturing procedures to build trailer and truck-mounted asphalt equipment from the ground up. It involves sub-assembly of the individual component parts to our equipment, as well as final assembly into its complete and finished product.

2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 1:30 AM M-Th

Pay: $21 - 27/hour

Responsibilities

  • Use basic hand and power tools to sub-assemble individual components such as engine cabinets, control boxes, and shovel cleaning compartments.
  • Assemble the sub-components together into the final manufactured unit, including mounting 2-4 ton capacity hoppers to trailer frames, and installation of control boxes, wiring harnesses, and a variety of heating systems such as LP and Diesel burners.
  • Assemble and install electrical components like wire harnesses and control boxes.
  • Follow electrical schematics and blueprints to ensure accurate builds.
  • Build and wire both high and low voltage control panels.
  • Install wiring systems on truck bodies and mounted equipment.
  • Support the Service team with electrical troubleshooting.
  • Occasionally assist with light mechanical assembly.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience doing complex assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical documents.
  • Ability to use electronic testing equipment such as voltmeters.
  • Experience with Diesel, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and electrical control systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certified Diesel Technician or similar experience is a bonus.
  • Experience with hydraulics and/or other power transmission systems is preferred.
  • Experience with 12-volt electrical systems is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and assembly drawings.
  • Skilled in using hand tools such as wire cutters, crimpers, and soldering tools.
  • Experience with soldering and terminal installation is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment is spacious and clean, housed within a very industrial setting. This is a sheet metal manufacturing shop with numerous machines, tools, and equipment in operation, and about 50 people working across various departments. The shift hours are Monday to Thursday, 3 PM to 1:30 AM with optional overtime on Fridays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Branch, Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $27.00/hr.
