Now Hiring: Part-Time Family Therapist | Child and Family Therapist

Location: Southern Peaks Regional Treatment Center in Canon City, Colorado 81212

About the Role:

The Child and Family Therapist plays a crucial role in supporting the mental health and emotional well-being of children and their families. This position involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing therapeutic interventions tailored to the unique needs of each family. The therapist will work collaboratively with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to create a supportive environment that fosters positive change. By utilizing evidence-based practices, the therapist aims to empower families to overcome challenges and improve their overall quality of life. Ultimately, the goal is to facilitate healthy relationships and promote resilience within the family unit.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Valid state licensure as a therapist (LMFT or LCSW).
  • Experience working with children and families in a therapeutic setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in play therapy or other specialized therapeutic modalities.
  • Experience with trauma-informed care and working with diverse populations.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families to identify mental health needs and challenges.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the specific goals and needs of each family.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
  • Collaborate with schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations to ensure a holistic approach to treatment.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of client progress and treatment outcomes in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

The required skills for this position include strong communication and interpersonal abilities, which are essential for building rapport with children and families. Active listening skills are crucial for understanding the unique challenges faced by clients and for developing effective treatment plans. Problem-solving skills are utilized daily to navigate complex family dynamics and to implement appropriate therapeutic interventions. Preferred skills, such as knowledge of trauma-informed care, enhance the therapist's ability to provide sensitive and effective support. Additionally, organizational skills are important for maintaining accurate records and managing multiple cases efficiently.
