Summer Substitute Staff
Looking for a flexible, dependable, and energetic individual who enjoys working with youth and being part of a team! This role is perfect for someone who wants to gain experience at a Boys & Girls Club, support kids in a variety of program areas, and set their own schedule.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Summer Substitute Youth Development Professional provides support to multiple Clubs on an on-call basis, filling in as needed in any program area. This position allows staff to maintain flexibility while supporting our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship.
Substitute staff will work with youth (ages 618) in small or large groups, helping implement activities, supervise members, and maintain a safe and positive environment.
Hours are flexible and staff can choose which shifts to accept. While we cannot guarantee hours, most substitutes work 2030 hours per week during the summer if willing to pick up shifts at multiple Club locations.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Support and supervise youth in any program area, including Sports & Recreation, Arts, Education, and Service & Leadership
- Build positive and supportive relationships with members
- Recognize youth accomplishments and encourage participation
- Deliver opportunities and expectations for learning, play, and engagement
- Always uphold safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment
Additional Roles Include:
Program Facilitator: Assisting with planning and leading activities across program areas.
Mentor: Building supportive and positive relationships with youth, modeling teamwork and respect.
Community Liaison: Helping maintain positive partnerships and program connections when needed.
Youth Advocate: Supporting leadership, responsibility, and citizenship development in youth.
Behavior Manager: Helping implement positive behavior strategies to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
Program Coordinator: Assisting with organizing programs and activities in various areas.
Supportive Counselor: Providing encouragement and guidance to youth as needed.
Educational Supporter: Supporting homework, tutoring, or enrichment activities as needed.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- High School diploma or GED & currently working to complete a two or four-year degree
- Experience working with children
- Ability to adapt to different program areas and age groups
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of youth development principles
- Valid State Drivers License
Requirements:
Candidates must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check & Drug Test
Training:
- Boys & Girls Club Basics & Safety 101 to be completed the first week of hire
- 30 Day - Complete the Milestone 1 trainings
- 60 Day - Complete Milestone 2 trainings
- Attend Monthly trainings for positive youth development
Job Status:
Seasonal On-call / flexible hours

Hours: Vary depending on availability and shift acceptance

Pay Range:
Starting at $15.25$16.25 per hour, depending on experience
