Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sessions as scheduled by Program Director

  • Process admissions on new participants

  • Conduct Assessment and Treatment Planning sessions for participants

  • Action Plans are to be updated every 90 days or when clinical focus changes

  • Assist participants with all case management needs (legal docs, employment, housing, referral to physical and mental healthcare, etc.)

  • Utilize empathy and compassion when assisting population with needed guidance

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions as assigned

  • Document all sessions

  • Communicate any concerns about participants to Program Director

  • Participate in Case Review (Complete Monthly Case Review)

Qualifications:

  • Certified SUD Counselor (ACCBC, CADTP, CCAPP)

  • Current TB test, Health Screening Report, CPR/First Aid Cert.

  • Must pass FBI/DOJ live scan background check

The role of the Counselor at Detour Behavioral Health is a counseling style position which allows for the participant to access supportive services needed in the transitional level of care. The Program Director will schedule sessions throughout the hours this team member is scheduled. Counselors do not supervise any staff members, however those with more experience are encouraged to share what they know with their peers.
