Position Title: Debt Collector
Location: Herndon - fully on-site
Assignment Type: 6-month contract with potential for contract-to-hire
Compensation: $25/hr
Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
Our client is looking for a collector to assist with debt resolutions in-house!
Job Description:
- Manage daily ODP reports, resolve inquiries, and address issues promptly.
- Work with members and agencies on Fresh Starts, payments, and account maintenance.
- Process charge-offs and escalate major concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of all collections activity.
- Handle credit bureau disputes to ensure accurate reporting.
- Contact delinquent accounts and take action to bring them current.
- Apply effective collection strategies while preserving member relationships.
- Assess borrowers’ financial situations for possible hardship solutions.
- Collect on returned checks, taxes, property, and negative shares; freeze accounts when needed.
- Report delinquent loan activity and trends to management.
- Understand and process bankruptcy and garnishment cases.
- Compile and provide delinquent loan data to leadership.
Requirements:
- Strong communication
- 1-3 yrs experience collecting on consumer loans (personal loans, credit card loans, auto loans)
- Comfortable in a high-volume environment
