About the Role:

A School Van Driver (Non-CDL) at Home Base Transportation works on a transport vehicle to provide safe, timely, and compassionate transportation for students with special needs. Their primary duties include supervising students during transport, maintaining open communication with dispatch, and ensuring that all students are safely transferred to the correct guardian or school staff.

A great School Van Driver is calm, dependable, and enjoys working with diverse individuals, especially those with developmental or behavioral challenges. They understand that safety and consistency are paramount, and they play a critical role in the daily well-being of our riders. Our drivers follow detailed safety procedures, model professionalism, and remain prepared for unexpected situations while maintaining a warm and supportive attitude. Responsibilities:

  • Support riders on their journey, ensuring their safety and individual needs are prioritized

  • Follow predetermined routes while adjusting appropriately for emergencies or delays

  • Perform Pre-Trip and Post-Trip vehicle inspections (engine check, camera check, interior/exterior, etc.) and report any concerns to headquarters

  • Complete daily documentation including trip logs and student attendance

  • Ensure proper seatbelt or harness use and student conduct during transport

  • Respond appropriately in emergencies and assist in conducting bus evacuation drills

  • Maintain a clean and well-kept vehicle (interior and exterior)

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with dispatch, schools, parents, and monitors

  • Provide appropriate interventions during behavioral or conflict situations

  • Support charter and school-related transportation as needed

Requirements:

  • Must be 25 years of age or older

  • Must be available Monday – Friday for split shifts ( example: 5:30 AM - 9:00 AM & 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM)

  • Some weekend and evening availability may be required

  • Pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening

  • Must maintain a clean driving record

  • Must obtain and maintain School Bus Certification

    • Includes 10 hours of initial training and 8 hours of annual training

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor every day

  • Wear company uniform and ID badge at all times while on duty

  • Must obtain and maintain CPR certification

Pay:

$23.25 / hour
