Job Purpose
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for accurately receiving, handling, and shipping materials and products in a timely manner. This role plays a critical part in maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring proper documentation, and supporting production schedules while following all company procedures and safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive incoming materials and verify quantities, part numbers, and condition against purchase orders and packing slips
- Ensure all received materials have proper paperwork before being moved or processed
- Immediately report missing, incorrect, or damaged materials to Scheduling and management
- Pull, package, and prepare outgoing shipments according to shipping schedules and customer requirements
- Verify outgoing shipments for accuracy, quantity, labeling, and documentation
- Record inventory transactions accurately and timely to maintain accurate inventory levels
- Follow FIFO inventory practice
- Assist with scheduled physical inventory counts and audits
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety in shipping and receiving areas
- Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, overhead cranes, and packaging tools (with proper training and certification)
- Communicate inventory, shipment, and paperwork issues clearly and professionally via email and approved communication channels
- Follow all CEM policies, procedures, and safety requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic math skills, including counting and quantity verification
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate professionally with internal teams and external drivers/vendors
- Basic computer skills, including email and shipping carrier software
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive manufacturing environment
- High level of dependability and attendance reliability
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or manufacturing operations
- Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment
- Familiarity with inventory systems or ERP software
- Experience following standardized work instructions or routers
Work Schedule
Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Days: Monday through Friday
Overtime may be required based on workload and business needs

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
This position works primarily indoors in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. The employee is exposed to material handling equipment, forklifts, and heavy materials. Adherence to safety procedures and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment is required.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, including close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus. The position requires standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, and lifting. The employee may be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
