Job DescriptionThe Class A CDL Driver is responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers and other heavy commercial vehicles to transport freight to designated locations while complying with all federal, state, and company regulations.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate Class A commercial vehicles (tractor-trailers) safely and efficiently
- Comply with regulations set by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
- Follow all guidelines established by the United States Department of Transportation
- Perform pre-trip, in-route, and post-trip inspections
- Maintain accurate logs and required documentation (ELDs, bills of lading, delivery receipts)
- Secure cargo properly to prevent shifting or damage
- Communicate with dispatch regarding routes and delivery status
- Report accidents, delays, or mechanical issues immediately
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
- Current DOT Medical Card
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Ability to pass DOT drug and alcohol screening
- Minimum 1-2 years of tractor-trailer experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) regulations
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Frequent climbing in and out of tractor-trailer
- Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs
- Ability to secure loads using straps, chains, or binders
