TITLE: CREW WORKER, LEAD
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION:
The purpose of this classification is to lead small teams to perform semi-skilled work in the maintenance of the parks, golf course, cemetery, and department facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Performs general laboring tasks in one of the following areas: parks, golf course, cemetery, and department facilities. Participates in cleaning equipment and performing preventive maintenance; makes minor repairs to equipment.
- Assists Supervisor to ensure quality work within the department. May assume lead role on team tasks.
- Operates a variety of trucks and equipment in performing tasks.
- Inspects equipment and assigned work area for safety hazards.
- Mows grass at parks; weed eats and edges; measures, cuts and lays sod; mulches lawns; blows leaves; plants trees; trims trees; seeds; lays straw; removes trees and debris.
- Cleans and performs preventative maintenance on department facilities.
- Picks up and disposes of litter; removes and replaces trash receptacles.
- Shovels snow.
- Pressure washes park facilities and equipment; paints as needed.
- Assists with special events as needed.
- May schedule use of facility.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or GED, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
