SUMMARY
Lead cost accounting for a growing manufacturing operation. Own monthly/quarterly/year-end close for costing and inventory modules, drive standard-cost accuracy, and partner closely with operations, supply chain, and procurement to improve margins and working capital. You’ll mentor a small team, strengthen SOX/internal controls, and guide plant-level capital budgeting and forecasts. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage the close for costing and inventory modules (monthly, quarterly, annual), ensuring accurate transactions and entries.
• Prepare and review inventory/cost accounting journal entries and account reconciliations; explain gross-margin fluctuations.
• Analyze standard costs and complete roll-ups for new products and production operations; resolve variances before finalizing rolling standards.
• Review manufacturing variances with operations and drive corrective actions to reduce them.
• Generate timely inventory and costing reports that inform plant and operations decisions.
• Assess inventory exposure and recommend excess/obsolete reserves.
• Interface with leadership across two production sites on a rotating basis; collaborate with manufacturing, materials, and warehouse teams.
• Support internal and external audits with schedules, analyses, and documentation; maintain compliance with SOX/internal controls.
• Provide day-to-day leadership to the cost accounting team; coach, give feedback, and conduct annual performance reviews.
• Lead plant capital budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Own special projects and assignments from senior finance leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
• 7+ years in cost accounting/financial reporting, including 3+ years leading or supervising; manufacturing experience required..
• Expert-level Microsoft Excel; proficient with Outlook, Teams, and Word.
• Hands-on ERP experience required; SAP preferred.
• Deep knowledge of standard costing, manufacturing variances, and overhead absorption.
• Demonstrated strength in inventory and COGS reconciliations, cycle counts, and month-end processes.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional partnership skills; thrives in a fast-paced environment.
