Position Details
●Job Title: Assistant Teacher
●Schedule: Full-time or Part-time (Monday–Friday, day shifts only)
●Pay: $16.50–$18.50/hour, based on education and experience
●Location: Woodstock, VT

About Rainbow Playschool Rainbow Playschool is a 4-star, state-accredited, community-owned nonprofit Preschool and Licensed Child Care Center with over 40 years of service to the Woodstock community and surrounding villages. We provide high-quality, play-based care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years in a supportive, outdoor-focused environment. Our dedicated staff, family-led board, and creative curriculum foster a place where children and teachers can learn, grow, and thrive together.

Duties

What You’ll Do As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll support our Lead and Associate Teachers in creating a nurturing, engaging classroom that promotes children’s development through play, exploration, and guided learning. Responsibilities include:
●Supporting children’s daily routines and development
●Assisting in creating a warm, stimulating, and safe classroom environment
●Preparing and assisting with snacks and light cleaning duties
●Helping organize materials and support learning activities
●Building relationships with children, families, and staff
●Maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude
●Completing at least 24 hours of professional development annually

Requirements

●Eager to support both children and fellow educators
●Flexible and energetic with a sense of creativity and fun

Preferred Qualifications
●Previous experience working with young children (preferred but not required)
●Completion of (or willingness to complete) a college-level course in Early Childhood Education, Human Growth Development, or a related field
●If not yet completed, you must enroll in and complete the Fundamentals of Early Childhood Education course within your first year (we offer financial assistance and mentorship)

Rainbow playschool is a non-profit organization in the foothills of Mt. Tom in Woodstock, Vermont.We provide daycare and preschool services with an emphasis on play and outdoor education to children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years old.Play.Learn.Grow.

Rainbow Playschool was founded in 1981, offering childcare services to the Woodstock communities.We are a four star state accredited program, operating at our newly renovated 8,000 square foot net zero building, which hosts beautiful classrooms dedicated to each unique learner.Children thrive in our large outdoor learning and play area, abutting the Marsh Billings National Park.
