Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities Assigned Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive, trauma-focused psychiatric assessments of children and adolescents, incorporating developmental, psychosocial, and family system perspectives. Develop clear clinical formulations that integrate trauma history, attachment patterns, environmental stressors, and psychiatric presentation. Create individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that may include psychotherapy recommendations, psychopharmacology, and supportive interventions. Communicate assessment findings and treatment plans effectively to children, caregivers, and the broader clinical team in a developmentally appropriate and accessible manner. Provide ongoing psychiatric care, including medication management when indicated, with follow-up appointments at a minimum of once per month or more frequently based on clinical need. Collaborate with caseworkers, therapists, psychologists, and other agency staff to ensure coordinated, trauma-informed care. Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and treatment planning discussions. Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with agency, state, and federal regulations. Support caregivers in understanding diagnoses, treatment approaches, and behavioral strategies. Promote a strengths-based, culturally responsive, and family-centered approach to care. In crisis treatment situations, ascertains whether or not a child needs psychiatric hospitalization or other type of special psychiatric treatment and coordinates such special treatment plan with the community hospital or agency. Meets with Chief Psychiatrist on a regularly scheduled basis for supervision Meets on a regularly scheduled basis with other Psychiatrists to for case discussions.

Position Qualifications:

Medical licensure in New York State, completed psychiatry residency and child/adolescent psychiatry fellowship, ABPN board certified or board eligibility in child and adolescent psychiatry. Knowledge in child development, psychiatric assessment and psychopharmacotherapy.
