Job Specs: Full time, 32-36 hours, 4 days a week. Location varies between offices in American Fork, Lehi and Provo. Occasional weekends and rare holidays.
Job Description
Responsible for providing professional nursing care for oncology and community patients following established standards of practice. Works as part of a team that plans and organizes all aspects of clinical patient care.
Responsibilities
Assess psychological and physical effects of cancer diagnosis and side effects of infused treatments
Use critical thinking skills to plan and implement interventions for solving patient problems within scope of nursing practice
Educate patients and family members on chemotherapy treatment, side effects and remedies
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment to ensure patients comfort
Maintain patient and staff confidentiality
Assess and access PACs and PICCs, Skilled in IVs
Execute prescribed treatment interventions, administer prescribed medications, and monitor patient response
Have knowledge of chemotherapy drugs and dosages according to cancer diagnosis
Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections
Calculate treatment dosages and mix chemotherapy drugs
Ability to safely handle hazardous drugs and mixing equipment
Utilize knowledge of chemotherapy medications, cancer diagnosis, diagnostic procedures, and infection control
Be proficient documenting in electronic MAR and use of office equipment
Strong desire to work as a team with other nurses and staff
Demonstrate ability to effectively function in high stress environment
Ability to respond calmly and use critical thinking skills
Qualifications
- Current RN license in the state of Utah
- At least 12 months working experience as a RN
- Have an active certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Oncology experience highly preferred
- OCN certification required after 3 years of employment
