Job Description

This position will be located at our Beltsville, MD facility. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will work within a cross-functional High Performance Work Team to achieve key business and financial goals by primarily focusing on the deployment of lean tools and processes, and the implementation and sustainment of safe and efficient manufacturing processes, including machine guarding and controls, tooling, fixtures, gauges, material handling, and process documentation. Lead/ facilitate kaizen events including the Value Stream Mapping Events, process improvements, and strategic initiatives in collaboration with the High Performance Work Teams (HPWT).

Identify and resolves opportunities, gathers and analyzes information, develops and implements actions plans to improve efficiency and reduce cost. Develop and maintain robust, cost efficient manufacturing processes and product structures consistent with lean manufacturing practices. Understands shop capacity planning related to equipment, processes, and manning.

Must be mindful of process and test capabilities and recognize organizational core competencies. Determine Root Cause and Corrective Actions to resolve issues involving discrepant product or material. Manage projects and conducts project reviews as needed to ensure successful and timely completion, within budget.

Communicates changes and progress status. Implement methods and practices to reduce variation. Demonstrates ability to understand source(s) of variation and identify impact of tolerance stacks in assemblies.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of two (2) years experience in engineering. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.

This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR.

Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Beltsville, MD will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.

Minimum of three (3) years experience in a manufacturing environment implementing Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles. Minimum of two (2) years experience with Pro/E, Catia, and Microsoft. Minimum of one (1) year Project Management experience.

Ability to act as change agent promoting and driving innovation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively explain technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders.

Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Ability to prioritize and make decisions considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
