Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A contract opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support students across Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, and High School levels in Washington, DC. This role focuses on delivering individualized instruction and accommodations for students with special needs, ensuring their academic and social growth within an inclusive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to facilitate effective learning experiences.
- Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies to support students at various developmental stages, from early childhood through high school.
- Monitor student progress, adapt instruction as needed, and maintain detailed documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Foster a positive, supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and independence.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience teaching special education across multiple grade levels, preferably including Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, and High School.
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, behavioral interventions, and assistive technologies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and related service providers.
- Commitment to promoting inclusive education and student-centered learning.
