Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years OR RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A highly skilled Registered Nurse is sought to provide expert perioperative care in a dynamic operating room setting specializing in orthopedic surgery. This contract position is based in Black Hawk, SD, at a surgical hospital known for its advanced orthopedic procedures including total joint replacements, arthroscopy, and spine surgeries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a circulating nurse in a fast-paced operating environment with 11 OR suites and a GI suite.
- Manage cases primarily in orthopedic surgery such as total joints utilizing MAKO robotic technology, arthroscopy, spine, foot and ankle, hand surgery, and ORIF.
- Support occasional general surgery, ENT, GYN, and plastic surgery cases.
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile techniques and safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with surgical teams to ensure seamless case flow and optimal patient outcomes.
- Utilize advanced equipment including the MAKO surgical robot.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current RN license in South Dakota or compact state.
- Minimum 3-4 years recent experience as an OR circulator.
- Strong orthopedic OR experience with total joint and arthroscopy cases.
- ACLS and BLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Robotics experience highly preferred, with proficiency in MAKO robotics ideal.
- Candidates currently or previously employed at this health system must meet specific submission guidelines (minimum 6-month gap since last assignment).
Schedule and Work Environment:
- No weekends or on-call duties.
- Floating across multiple OR units as needed.
- Scrubs and appropriate attire provided on-site.
- Daily surgical volume averages 30-50 cases.
