Supplier Quality Engineer | Kentwood, MI

Salary Range: $83,000 - $117,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement supplier quality assurance programs and procedures.
• Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
• Monitor supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues, implement corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs), and drive continuous improvement.
• Review and approve supplier documentation, including inspection plans, test reports, and material certifications.
• Participate in new product introduction (NPI) processes to ensure supplier readiness and product quality.
• Manage incoming material inspection and testing processes to verify compliance with requirements.
• Investigate and resolve non-conforming material and product issues originating from suppliers.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or a related technical field.
• Proven experience in supplier quality management, auditing, and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and relevant industry standards.
• Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis (RCA) techniques, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Experience with quality tools and software (e.g., FMEA, Control Plans, Minitab, ERP systems).

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
• - Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) software.
• - Certification as an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
• - Experience with risk management tools (e.g., FMEA).
• - Proficiency in a second language relevant to global supply chains.
