Job Description

Job DescriptionHot Forge Operator - $18/hrNeed (2) preferably male for Hot forge operator. Need to know how to use calipers and tape measure
Sets up and operates closed-die power press to produce metal forging.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on machinery.
  • Check tooling for clearance, verify last quantities made to ensure product still meets specifications.
  • Heat tooling up to minimal operating temperature before starting to heat material.
  • Provide first article to QC Supervisor/Lead for approval signature.
  • When all work is completed, check with Supervisor to verify quantity of the job is complete and to receive the next assignment.
  • Move heated material into staging area ensuring traveler and traceability tag are on each product before moving out of the forge area.
  • If new tooling is required, remove existing tooling, inspect and return to tooling inventory clerk along with any notes for rework required.
  • Police and clean work area 15 minutes before end of shift.

Education and/or Experience: Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to read measurement and devices.
