Red Oak Recovery, a facility of Bradford Health Services, is seeking a PRN Unit Clerk / Medical Services Coordinator to serve our Leicester, Fletcher, and Ellenboro campuses. As a PRN staff, the PRN Unit Clerk will only work on an as-needed basis.


About the Role:

The Unit Clerk / Medication Services Coordinator plays a vital role in the efficient operation of our campuses by managing administrative and clerical tasks that support medical staff and patient care. This position ensures accurate and timely documentation, communication, and coordination within the unit, contributing to a seamless healthcare delivery process. The Unit Clerk acts as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare professionals, facilitating clear and compassionate communication. By maintaining organized records and managing information flow, the Unit Clerk helps uphold compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. Ultimately, this role is essential in creating a supportive environment that enhances patient experience and operational effectiveness within the healthcare setting.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare administrative or clerical role is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation practices.
  • Proficiency in using office software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a hospital or long-term care facility.
  • Familiarity with healthcare privacy regulations such as HIPAA.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage patient records and ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Coordinate communication between healthcare providers, patients, and families, including answering phones and directing inquiries appropriately.
  • Schedule appointments, tests, and procedures, ensuring efficient use of unit resources and minimizing patient wait times.
  • Prepare and distribute reports, forms, and correspondence related to patient care and unit operations.
  • Maintain inventory of office and medical supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure uninterrupted unit function.
  • Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes by preparing necessary paperwork and coordinating with relevant departments.
  • Support healthcare staff by managing clerical tasks that allow them to focus on direct patient care.

The Unit Clerk utilizes strong organizational skills daily to manage multiple tasks such as scheduling, record keeping, and communication efficiently. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, ensuring clarity and empathy in all exchanges. Proficiency with electronic health record systems and office software enables the Unit Clerk to maintain accurate documentation and streamline administrative processes. Attention to detail is critical when handling sensitive patient information and preparing reports to support clinical decision-making. Additionally, problem-solving skills help the Unit Clerk address scheduling conflicts and supply shortages promptly, contributing to smooth unit operations.
