The Nutritionist is responsible for providing child and maternal nutrition support services for enrolled children, their families, and staff.

Salary: $50,000.00/per year

Education Requirements: The following persons are authorized to serve as a Competent Professional Authority (CPA):
- Nutritionists with a Bachelor of Science degree in an approved Program in Dietetics with a DPD Verification Statement or Plan IV or V.
- Registered Dietitians (or eligible for registration, with completion of the Dietetic Internship)
- Registered Nurses
Work Experience Requirement: A minimum of one year experience in counseling for the pregnant and postpartum woman, and newborn through early childhood is preferred.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Nutritionists will certify participants, including collecting height, weight and hemoglobin screen (by referral or on site), assessing diet and health, assigning nutrition risks, and tailoring and issuing food packages.
- Nutritionists will serve as coordinators at satellite sites.
- Provide individual nutrition counseling and facilitate group education.
- Document their work in ACCESS.
- Attend DHSS meetings as requested and required.
- Nutritionists will be trained in the responsibilities of the clinic attendants and be asked to fill in for them as needed.
- Nutritionists will attend training to keep up to date with health, nutrition, breastfeeding and WIC topics.
Other Skills and Abilities:
All Program Nutritionist in this category must have the ability to use their training and experience constructively and be willing to conduct his/herself according to the ethics of the profession, be interested in increased skills and knowledge, be able to record, organize and execute the duties assigned, and be able to work cooperatively with other members of the staff, other agencies, and the community.
Other Requirements:
- Bilingual English and Spanish required.
- Must have a car and valid driver’s license some travel may be required.

- Respect and maintain rights and privacy of all staff, parents, and children.
- Attend mandated trainings and meetings, and seek out staff development opportunities – traveling may be required within county or outside county
