Zephyr Naturals, located in South Salt Lake, UT, is a co-manufacturer of gummies and dietary supplements. We comply with FDA, UDAF, SQF, NSF, Kosher, Halal, Organic, and many other food safety and quality systems. We are looking to fill the role of Quality Control Technician. This position reports to the Head of Quality.

Position Responsibilities:

• Perform pre-op inspection of the lines, including visual inspection, ATP swabbing, and Allergen swabbing.
• Conduct daily routine inspections of the lines and enforce GMPs and safety rules.
• Sample incoming materials for testing. Evaluate incoming materials.
• Sample Finished Product for testing. Evaluate Finished Product.
• Manage product testing program. Generate Finished Product COAs.
• Follow Non-conforming Materials and Product to place materials/products on hold and follow through with dispositions. Manage non-conforming programs.
• Follow Release Program to release materials/products in a timely manner.
• Assist in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action.
• Manage the Deviation and Change Control processes.
• Owner of the Verification and Validation activities.
• Perform record review.
• Be a member of the Food Safety Team.
• Follow and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Follow and enforce Good Documentation Practices.
• Follow and enforce all internal SOPs pertaining to Operations and Quality.
• Support and follow SQF principle.
• Coach Production Staff on GMP requirements.
• Attend monthly refresher training.
• Other responsibilities as required by Quality Management.

Skills

• Excellent MS Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
• Computer, typing.

Knowledge

• Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma with minimum 2 years of work experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in food or dietary supplement manufacturing or at least 1 year in quality control/quality assurance field.
• Basic chemistry, microbiology, and mathematics knowledge.
• Basic knowledge of GMPs (in food and dietary supplement manufacturing preferred).
• Current Utah Food Handler’s Permit or ability to take the course and pass it to obtain certification.
• HACCP certification or other GFSI or food safety certification preferred.

Abilities

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with help.
• Ability to stand or walk throughout the shift.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Be a team player, who can work with peers from all different departments.
• Ability to work with and around foods that contain milk allergens.
• Ability to write quality reports in coherent English Language.
• Bilingual is plus.
