Carrillo Surgery Center has an immediate opening for a full-time surgical technician (scrub tech). The specialties include pain management, general orthopedics, and spine surgery. We are looking for applicants with previous ambulatory surgery center/OR experience to join our team. A surgical technician performs a variety of duties in the ambulatory surgery center under the direction of the physician, director of nursing/nursing staff, materials manager and supervisor.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
1. Stocks and orders supplies and equipment
2. Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure
3. Scrubs, gowns, and gloves
4. Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure
5. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed
6. Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants
7. Helps in draping sterile field
8. Passes instruments, etc., to surgeon during procedure
9. Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure
10. Prepares sterile dressings
11. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization
12. Assists other members of team with terminal cleaning of room and constant cleanliness of the center
13. Assists in prepping room for the next patient
14. Other duties as instructed by the physician, director of nursing/nursing staff, materials manager and supervisor
We are looking for an experienced scrub technician who has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and are constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field and cleanliness of the surgery center. Must have experience with spine. Applicants with CST certification or comparable certification are preferred. Must have current CPR certification card. May be expected to lift twenty-five pounds (or greater) without assistance. May be required to provide assistance in moving patients to and from gurneys, wheelchairs, etc.
