Job Title: Assembler

Job Description

The Assembler builds electro-mechanical products by creating sub-assemblies of printed circuit boards and components, and then integrating them into completed units using hand and power tools. This role follows detailed work instructions and procedures, performs basic electrical functional testing, and supports related production activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble printed circuit boards by inserting applicable components in a through-hole fashion, following specific work instructions and procedures.
  • Use various hand tools and air tools to perform assembly tasks accurately and safely.
  • Install sub-assemblies and miscellaneous hardware into unit enclosures at the final assembly level in accordance with detailed work instructions.
  • Perform electrical function tests at both the printed circuit board level and final assembly level using test fixtures provided by electrical engineering.
  • Inspect assemblies for quality, proper component placement, and adherence to specifications and blueprints where applicable.
  • Support packing and packaging activities, including preparing completed units for shipment as needed.
  • Work efficiently on a production or assembly line to meet daily and weekly production goals and deadlines.
  • Follow cleanroom or controlled-area procedures when required to maintain product quality and safety.
  • Use hand and power tools, including air tools, safely and effectively throughout the assembly process.
  • Assist with wiring and mechanical assembly tasks as needed to complete electro-mechanical units.
  • Collaborate with team members and cross-functional groups to achieve department and production goals.
  • Strive for continuous process improvement in daily activities by identifying opportunities to improve quality, safety, or efficiency.
  • Follow through on assigned tasks to completion while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with production and safety guidelines.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 4 months of work experience, ideally within a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to perform electro-mechanical assembly using hand and power tools, including air tools.
  • Capability to assemble printed circuit boards and sub-assemblies using through-hole component insertion.
  • Basic electrical assembly and wiring skills, including working with test fixtures for functional testing.
  • Mechanical assembly skills, including working with hardware, enclosures, and sub-assemblies.
  • Ability to read and follow specific work instructions, procedures, and basic blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform inspection of assemblies for quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively on a production or assembly line in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capacity to stand at a workstation for 8 or more hours per shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 26 pounds safely and repeatedly as required.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Assembler experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Electro-mechanical aptitude is desirable for working with complex assemblies and test fixtures.
  • Experience with soldering and electrical assembly is beneficial.
  • Experience in assembling items such as furniture or similar products is acceptable and valued but not required.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom or controlled production environment is helpful.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with individuals and teams to achieve department and production goals.
  • Commitment to continuous process improvement in daily tasks.
  • Strong follow-through to ensure assigned tasks are completed on time and to standard.

Work Environment

This role is based in a basic production work area within a national manufacturer of pool equipment and related products. The environment is very fast paced, and meeting production deadlines is crucial. Work is performed in relatively tight quarters on a production or assembly line, using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and air tools to complete electro-mechanical assemblies. Eye protection and protective shoes are required at all times, and loose clothing is not permitted to ensure safety around equipment. You must be comfortable standing at your workstation for an entire 8+ hour shift and performing repetitive tasks that involve lifting up to 26 pounds. The facility operates multiple shifts, including a first shift from Monday to Thursday, 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with potential overtime on Fridays, and a second shift from Monday to Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. with possible overtime on Fridays from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Kingstown, RI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
