About the Position
- Medical Staff Scheduling Specialist
- Temporary Part-time .5-.75 FTE (40-60 hours per pay period) to last approx 4 months
- Days, no weekends!
- Onsite at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital
Job Summary:
The Medical Staff Credentialing and Office Assistant assist the medical staff (Physician and Advanced Practice Professionals) with medical staff credentialing and privileging process. This position is also a resource to help with the coordination and on-going medical education for the Medical Staff. Helps to assure that all credentialing and privileging efforts are in compliance with licensing and regulatory agencies. This position requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Medical Staff Bylaws and supporting documents.
Here's what you'll do when you join us:
- Functions as a credentialing assistant for Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital and assists with the processing of provider applications according to medical staff policies and procedures, Medical Staff Bylaws, CMS and JC standards.
- Assists with maintenance and accuracy of provider information in the credentialing databases, files and maintenance of the practitioner privilege book.
- Assist with confidential research required for credentialing of new & re-appointees applying to the medical or allied health staff; coordinates completion of the credentialing process; collect and assesses information gathered for the initial and re-appointee evaluation for privileges and membership in a timely manner.
- Assist in processing of applications for medical staff appointment to include verification of all pertinent information in compliance with acceptable standards for processing application in compliance with the medical staff bylaws, Minnesota state law and the JC standards.
- Assists with requests for temporary privileges in accordance with the medical staff bylaws and JC standards.
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the expirables for life support certifications and help schedule the life support certification courses in coordination with Employee Health.
- Completes special assignments as requested by the medical staff leadership or administration and assists with administrative support.
- Assist with responding to external inquiries regarding practitioner appointments and past appointments.
- Assist with miscellaneous credentialing and medical staff office duties as assigned.
- Assist with in-house CME activities.
- Assist as needed with the in house Grand Itasca/Fairview sponsored CME activities in compliance with the MMA, ACCME, and AAFP.
- Perform other duties as assigned and appropriate for the position.
